I am looking for a form of teeth cleaning programme for young adults who have SLD%26#039;s, and so far is refusing to open their mouths. I am loathed to go down the route of forcing a mouth prop in to clean their teeth, as this is most distressful. Has anyone any ideas?
I like to buy some chewable toothbrushes or even flavoured toothpaste (that isn%26#039;t minty) to try and encourage his brushing.
Teeth cleaning programme for an adult with SLD?
The chewable toothbrushes you see in motorway services are available to buy online from:
http://www.fuzzybrush.co.uk/
It seems that there are also chewable tablets but I only found this link by accident while looking for fuzzybrushes for you so I don%26#039;t know what they are like:

As for toothpaste there are lots of childrens%26#039; toothpastes available in fruit flavours at most supermarkets.
Hope this is useful.
Reply:SLD???
Reply:UNFORTUNATELY, IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE YOUR ONLY ALTERNATIVE MIGHT BE MOUTH PROPS.
Reply:SLD Severe learning difficulties.
The only place I%26#039;ve seen chewable tooth brushes is in vending machies at pubs and motorway services. Maybe if you spoketo someone like Welcome Break they could put you onto the suppliers?
