Teeth cleaning and plaque removal?

I went to the dentist yesterday and he removed some or all of the plaquein my teeth, I actually don%26#039;t know if he removed it all or just part of it because I didn%26#039;t ask but he said that I should come today to finish the cleaning and I%26#039;m freaked out right now I%26#039;ve been crying since yesterday, I have dentist and teeth phobia, the plaque removal was really terrifying, will he do the same thing today?, or will he do another thing?, help, if he will do the same thing today I%26#039;m gonna die in his clinik .....lol.

I have a bad toothache in one of my teeth which will make the proccess worse, I told him about that teeth and he said he will be gentle ....but he didn%26#039;t, so my question is will he continue the plaque removal today, or is it over, he said he will continue cleaning my teeth, what does that mean? plaque removal??????? or does he mean something else?.

Teeth cleaning and plaque removal?
You probably freaked out the dentist just as much as he freaked you out. You were probably squriming and resisting so much that he ran out of time to finish the job and had to move along with his other scheduled patients.

We were not there, so we can not possibly say how much plaque is left on your teeth, can we?
Reply:Hey, I get along with (almost) all my patients. I have one who is so bad. I sent her to the oral surgeon for general anesthesia to ahve an easy extraction. He called WHILE SHE WAS THERE (continued) Report It

Reply:(cont) and said, %26quot;I am sorry, but I can%26#039;t treat this patient. She%26#039;s the worst I%26#039;ve ever seen.%26quot; She came back to me and I took out her tooth. She%26#039;s a regular patient now. Report It

Reply:Scaling someone%26#039;s teeth is not usually a two-day job. I can%26#039;t imagine it being necessary to come back a second day to have more teeth cleaning done. It should be something else. Who knows what it could be?
Reply:You need to have the treatment finished, seriously. Bad teeth can lead to other health problems that canbe quite serious. Take a friend with you to hold your hand if that will help a bit. If you feel that this particular dentist is too freaky for you, try a different one, but you DO need to have the dental work finished, especially if you still have toothache.
Reply:Your having a bad experience because you took too long to see the dentist.

The best way to reduce dental problems is to see a dentist every six months.

The teeth cleanings will be much easier on you - and the hygienist.

Take care of your self and your teeth - if you want them to last a lifetime.
Reply:After initial removal of tartar, many people have to return for a process called %26quot;scaling%26quot;. This is a deep cleaning of your teeth near the gum line. Novocaine is usually used in this procedure, so you won%26#039;t feel it. You may be sore afterwards. There may be up to four visits required for scaling, as they work on one quadrant of your mouth at a time.
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure why he didnt finish yesterday as a cleaning or a deep cleaning doesnt take 2 days to do, maybe he will be doing something else but I%26#039;m not sure, maybe he will check on the toothache instead, yeah I havent had the best experiences with dental visits but they have to do what they have to do in order for your teeth and mouth to get better so I just bear it, just like everyone else, crazy, I%26#039;ve had 4 wisdom tooth pulled, 2 where the tooth had to be split and once where they were taking molds for a mouth guard and freaking cut my gums even though I told them it was hurting but they forced it anyways
Reply:Well if he said that he would continue with plaque removal then...id assume thats what hes going to do.

I hate the dentist too freaks me out so bad. I deal with it because I have to. I hate nasty teeth.

Bring an ipod or something you can tune into and block out what hes doing that helps me.

If you have a toothache that may mean you have a cavity he may fill that today as well. Did thye do x-rays yesterday?

Just remember it will be over soon enough.

Then you will have 6 months before you have to go back.
Reply:Hes just going to finish what he started. If I were you, Id let this guy finish with you, and when you ever go to the dentist again, go to someone else, explain to them how scared of the dentist you are, and that they MUST be gentle. This guy youre going to now, just doesnt care. We recently just changed dentists bucuz of the dentist being too rough. We%26#039;d come out of there with our lips would be bleeding and everything hurting. Plus, his work sucked!

You know, they can give you something that will calm you down while youre there. The laughing gas helps me alot, I also hate the dentist.

The main thing is, you need to get another dentist.
Reply:usually people who fear the dentist put off going for as long as possible so that problems that could have been attended too during regular check ups have built up to where there is either a lot to be done or that that has to be done is more serious. if you have a real phobia dentists can prescribe medication to help relax you or use the nitrous oxide (laughing gas) they can use it for cleanings and dental work. more than likely you had a lot of plaque build up and rather than have your mouth open for a long period of time and put you through that trauma they decided it best to bring you back. if you like you could take an advil to help with the soreness in your jaw and gums. but also do this, take warm tea, regular, green whatever your preference but it has to be tea and hold it in your mouth, swish it around and either swallow it or spit it out and repeat it until the cup is empty, you can do this several times a day as you need it. the tannic acid and warmth are great healers and if you ever have to be numbed up for work use this afterwards, just make sure its warm NOT hot as you will be numb and if its hot you can get severe burns. test is on your wrist first. also breathing excersizes or focusing on a point and trying to relax your body during procedures helps as does closing your eyes and imagining pleasant scenarios. good luck, your dentist is treating you correctly and compassionately as possible. don%26#039;t let the years pass though until your next appointment. preventative care can save you lots of money and pain......(by the way, i was in dentistry for 15 yrs)
Reply:I can empathize with your fears. Ask the dentist if he can give you some nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during the procedures. It really helps you to loosen up and endure it much better. It%26#039;s also a really good, legal high! Good luck.
Reply:the dentist is here to make your teeth healthy, it is a bad process b/c you have not been to your dentist in a long time good luck
